Team performance coaching

Teams are so much more than the sum of their parts

Our approach to team coaching stems directly from our experience in operational management and group psychology. We believe that team performance requires collective understanding and commitment to both the group task and the group identity:

Group Task- their collective tasks, roles, processes, targets, and accountability

Group Identity- their collective values, culture, cognitive diversity, interdependencies and motivations

The goal of team coaching is to support them in developing a self-managing approach to their work - whereby they have the self-awareness to identify their group behaviours (both positive and negative), finding their own solutions to challenges and taking group responsibility for improving their own performance.

We call this Breakthrough Thinking and it’s the game-changer for team performance.

Four key team dynamics

Our team coaching programme integrates the four key team dynamics that drive the collaboration and culture required for true team effectiveness and fulfilment.

  • Individual - fully committed to taking up their role within the group

  • Group - fully contributing to living the team culture and ways of working

  • Structural - with total clarity of the team tasks, responsibilities and guiding principles

  • Psychological - with appreciation of the group’s reactions and behaviours to authority and anxiety; and the resilience and collective will to manage issues as they arise

Performance tracking

What further sets our team coaching apart is the focus on measurement and performance tracking.

Our clients have access to the New Level Results dashboard which allows them, alongside their coach, to score and comment on their progress each month. This visualisation of their progress against their hard and soft KPIs drives the momentum and personal accountability so critical to successful change.

It also provides clear evidence for the effectiveness and ROI of the coaching programme itself.

Our Programmes and Services

Team Performance workshop

The first step is a full day (or 2 x half day) in-person workshop where facilitated questioning and exercises help the team explore, then define, their collective values, culture, guiding principles and breakthrough goals for the year ahead.

Throughout the session the team is challenged to think deeper and bigger to really define what breakthrough performance would look and feel like for them.

A key area of discovery for most teams is around defining a self-management ethos:

  • how they will manage decision-making and conflict management within the team

  • how they will utilise each other’s strengths, creating opportunity for individual and collective growth

The team leaves the workshop with: a clear set of values and principles that define their culture; an understanding of their group dynamics; and concise team goals that they are all 100% committed to.

Team Performance annual programme

Momentum and consistency are key to developing team performance - and the annual programme provides the coaching and insight required to support this.

Each month the team define their monthly micro-goals against each of their breakthrough annual goals. At the end of the month, via the New Level Results dashboard, they individually score and comment on the progress of the team as a whole against each goal, as well as how well they have collectively worked to their values, culture and guiding principles.

Within their monthly coaching session (1.5 hours, in person or on Zoom), they explore that month’s progress, accomplishments and challenges.

The dashboard becomes a visualisation and tracker for their coaching journey towards Breakthrough and beyond.

Facet5 Team Personality Profiling

An additional insight tool we offer teams is Facet5 personality profiling, which provides a hugely valuable learning and application opportunity, both individually and collectively, for teams looking to better understand their diversity of strengths, and identify communication and ways of working challenges, such as internalised vs externalised solutioning.

  • Facet5 is a robust and insightful personality profiling tool based on the globally recognised Big 5 personality traits.

  • Our personality is the unique combination of enduring patterns of behaviour and thinking that impact how we perceive the world and the people we come in contact with.

  • The Facet5 Profile provides a snapshot of your personality against the five major elements of an individuals’ personality- Will, Energy, Affection, Control and Emotionality. These factors are then broken down into 13 sub-factors.

  • It provides a clear understanding of our strengths and the potential risks of our behaviour, and how it is perceived and affects others.

This self-awareness enables the very change that we are working towards through coaching.

  • The first step is to complete a confidential questionnaire of 106 questions (taking 20 minutes).

As an accredited Facet5 practitioner, I am able to review the comprehensive report, before taking you through your profile in a specific debrief session (1.5 hours).

Afterwards the report is yours - including the detailed profile, Facet5 family portrait, and insights into management and teamwork preferences.

  • The TeamScape workshop brings the team’s Facet5 Profiles to life, exploring what the work experience is like for their different personality types.

Team self-awareness both enhances team self-management and culture, as well as mitigating tensions that arise from assumption and mis-comprehension.

  • TeamScape Workshop - £1,725

Includes creation of TeamScape profile comparisons and facilitation of half-day workshop (max. of 12 people)

Note - each team member must already have a Facet5 profile - see the Individual tab for information

“The session fuelled brilliantly constructive discussions about future ways of working as a team and a more open mindset to understand how different people approach working together. All masterfully facilitated and managed by Andrew.”
